Stone & Tile: Architecture Design & TrendsResidential

Quartz complements South Beach style

Silestone by Cosentino contributed to the modern design of a master bath remodel in a Florida residence

By Jennifer Richinelli

For a master bath remodel of a residence in South Beach, Miami, FL, the homeowners were seeking a larger space with a fresh contemporary feel. To provide the look they  desired, designer Alena Capra, CKD, CBD of Alena Capra Designs in Fort Lauderdale,  FL, turned to Silestone by Cosentino quartz surfacing to find just the right color for the  bathroom design.

“For this bathroom, we wanted to take space from an adjacent closet to make the room bigger, as well as add a second sink,” said Capra. “The previous bath had a pedestal sink. Adding a larger counter with two sinks was a big change. I did this by relocating the toilet, which was next to the sink, so I had 60 inches to have two sinks. Then, since we took about 2 ½ extra feet of space from the closet, I was able to push the shower back and add room for the toilet. We also added a pocket door with a frosted glass center to free up space in the room for the new design, and allow more light in the room.
